The collection

The Blackcase Studio collection is currently in development, with a clear and ambitious vision: to tell the story of Rock through instruments, equipment, and sonic heritage. Every piece being curated is selected not only for its quality, but for its cultural relevance — representing defining eras, iconic sounds, and the evolution of rock music across generations.

This collection is conceived as a living archive of tone and history, honoring the amplifiers, instruments, and technologies that shaped the sound of legendary records. From vintage craftsmanship to modern milestones, the goal is to preserve and celebrate the spirit of rock in its purest form.

The Blackcase Studio collection is not available for rental or sale. It is a permanent, private archive assembled with long-term vision and artistic integrity in mind.

All items are securely stored in a climate-controlled vault to ensure preservation, stability, and protection. Temperature and humidity are carefully regulated to maintain optimal conditions for wood, electronics, and vintage components.

This is not a commercial inventory.
It is a curated legacy in the making.

The guitar known as 'Blackie' constitutes one of the most influential musical artifacts of the 20th century, directly associated with the consolidation of the modern blues-rock language and the creative renaissance of Eric Clapton following his Cream and Derek and the Dominos period. Unlike mass-produced instruments, Blackie was conceived as a composite instrument: in 1970 Clapton acquired several 1950s Fender Stratocasters in Nashville, disassembling them and selecting the finest structural components to assemble a single customized guitar tailored to his ergonomic, tonal, and playability preferences. This procedure historically anticipates the contemporary Custom Shop concept and establishes Blackie as one of the earliest documented examples of professional electric guitar customization for artistic purposes.

This guitar became Page’s principal stage instrument during the formative years of Led Zeppelin, marking the transition of blues-based rock into a heavier, more theatrical and experimental sound language.

Although Hendrix was left-handed, he predominantly used right-handed Fender Stratocasters restrung and inverted for left-handed playing, creating a distinctive reversed pickup orientation and string tension geometry that became central to his unprecedented sonic vocabulary. The white Stratocaster became visually and sonically emblematic of Hendrix’s late career, coinciding with the peak of his creative and cultural impact.

Historical and Cultural Context

The Gibson SG associated with Tony Iommi occupies a foundational position in the history of heavy metal. Adopted by Iommi at the dawn of Black Sabbath’s career, the SG’s lightweight body, fast neck profile and powerful humbuckers became integral to the creation of a darker, heavier guitar language. The signature model formalizes decades of iterative modifications developed to accommodate Iommi’s unique playing requirements following his industrial accident.

Historical and Cultural Context

The Epiphone DG-335 associated with Dave Grohl represents the democratization of a contemporary rock icon originally conceived as a high-end Gibson model. Based on Grohl’s custom Gibson semi-hollow design—often described as a modern reinterpretation of the ES-335 platform—the Epiphone version translates the essential tonal, ergonomic, and aesthetic characteristics of the instrument into a more accessible form, expanding its cultural reach without abandoning its artistic lineage.

Historical and Cultural Context

The instrument known as the 'Red Special' occupies a singular position in the history of electric guitar design. Originally built by Brian May and his father, Harold May, in the early 1960s using unconventional materials and innovative construction techniques, the guitar defied industrial standards and became inseparable from the sonic identity of the band Queen. The Burns-produced Red Special represents an effort to translate this highly idiosyncratic, handmade design into a serially manufactured instrument while preserving its core tonal and ergonomic principles.
